Aren’t authors of positive thinking books like say, The Powers of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale and, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill… and acclaimed psychics like Sylvia Browne actually taking their writings from quotes out of the Bible?

I might have added faith healers here too, except I cannot make that claim, as I’ve never really delved into what faith healers teach.

See if you agree with me… take a look at these sample biblical passages:

Matthew 8:17 Amplified Bible New King James Version
Matthew 12:34-37 Amplified Bible New King James Version
Matthew 18:19 Amplified Bible New King James Version
Mark 11:23-24 Amplified Bible New King James Version
Deuteronomy 8:18 Amplified Bible New King James Version
Deuteronomy 28:1-13 Amplified Bible New King James Version
John 6:35 Amplified Bible New King James Version
John 14:13-14 Amplified Bible New King James Version
3 John 1:2 Amplified Bible New King James Version
Psalm 19:14 Amplified Bible New King James Version
Proverbs 18:20-21 Amplified Bible New King James Version
Proverbs 25:11 Amplified Bible New King James Version
Philippians 4:19 Amplified Bible New King James Version
1 Peter 5:7 Amplified Bible New King James Version

Only recently, I have had the luxury of being introduced to the Bible. Don’t be shocked, I attended Sunday School as a child for only a very brief period. And, within that period of time, I learned that I was going to die for my sins… so we were being told. So when my non-believing parents pulled us from the little church up on Quaker Hill, I didn’t feel much remorse.

I’ve been studying from a New King James Version Amplified Parallel Bible… and, the Bible in Contemporary Language; The Message. The Message having been gifted to me by a dear friend Dave right after I had experienced a very personal loss in my life.

Each version expresses the same scriptures but The Message… is in a language I can understand easier. I read almost daily from The Message while eating my breakfast.

A very special friend Kate, teaches me using the other two versions, along with yet other versions of the Bible… whenever we can get together for Bible studies.

Between Dave and Kate (whom do NOT know each other), they have been instrumental in helping me whenever I have a question about something I have read in any of the versions of the Bibles. I’ve even discovered an online Bible I enjoy reading when away from home… Bible Gateway. There are several different versions of the Bible available for you to peruse.

If there’s one thing I finally realize, well… it’s that I know that God definitely used my problems to better my life! For example, in looking back over options I once had, it seemed at first glance that I “missed the boat” many times… or… so it seemed. Alas, in fact I was saved from failure after failure, in many instances!

And, one very nasty event in my life actually has saved me ruin and even more grief, by happening when it did. Lucky? I don’t think so any more. I truly believe my life has been being directed by the Lord all along; Proverbs 16:9 certainly clarified that for me.

Now that I’ve been made aware of the word, I WILL pay closer attention to MY deeds, like is shown to me in James 1:23-25

Don’t you agree that many authors have been using the passages from the Bible to reach those of us in ignorance of the word the Bible offers us?
