Here’s my two cents worth…
Thank YOU Gene Roddenberry! …not only for Star Trek: The Next Generation, but for waking Hollywood up to the fact that we, the viewing audience, are in fact VERY hungry for GOOD quality sci-fi movies.
Wow… Avatar is not only a great sci-fi but also makes great
example of computer generated imagery at its best. If EVER anyone has felt that this “new” technology might replace REAL actors and actresses, well, think again. At the end of Avatar, the credits way outweighed any credits I have ever seen listed for regular movies, with regular actors.
Two thumbs up to the producers and director of Avatar!
This movie shows how we humans are so terribly greedy and ready to destroy other planets in order to gain… and yet this movie offers a viewer a sprinkle of hope by proving that some of us humans would be prepared to stand up for what we believe to be true, and help others at all costs.
Yes, the movie offers a love story, yes, it is somewhat a sci-fi fantasy, but ooooh so compelling in the lessons learned that it offers the viewers. All I could think to say after watching this movie is “please, let me become one of those ‘blue monkeys’ (their label NOT mine)!” So, if you have not yet seen this movie… and you’re a sci-fi buff, rent it, buy it, borrow it… but DO see it. You’ll enjoy this movie, I’m sure of it.
By the way, I saw this movie in regular 2D and enjoyed it immensely!
Here’s a thought to keep in mind regarding 3D movies: Why I Hate 3-D (And You Should Too)

Right on!
